The Melamchi Ghyang Gompa is one of the oldest and most revered monasteries in the Helambu region. Situated in the center of Melamchi Ghyang village, this monastery has been a spiritual anchor for the Hyolmo community for centuries.
The gompa is believed to have been established several centuries ago by early Hyolmo settlers. It has served as a center for Buddhist learning, meditation, and community gatherings throughout its history.
The gompa plays a central role in the religious and cultural life of the village. Major ceremonies, festivals, and community decisions often take place here. Resident monks maintain daily prayer schedules and perform rituals for the community.
